Cancer Respite Week Retreat

Sunday, June 3 – Friday, June 8, 2018

Need a break?

This week-long Respite Retreat is for you if you have cancer, are about to start treatment, are recovering from treatment, or if you are caring for someone who is (as a caregiver, support staff or family member). It’s an opportunity for you to take a break and benefit from a week of self-care, self-discovery, relaxation and fun.

Throughout the week you will be immersed in naturally peaceful surroundings and will nourish your body, mind and spirit with: delicious healing food, gentle yoga, guided meditation, forest bathing (time spent in nature), and supportive, welcoming facilitators.

What you can expect…

  • No one will ask you every five seconds if you’re okay. But support is here if you need it.
  • No one will tell you what to eat. But the week will feature healthy plant-based food to support your immune system and help you cleanse if you choose.
  • No one will tell you what to do. But a relaxing week of pre-planned activities will be available for you to participate in… or not. Everything is optional!

Meditation practices encourage a deeper connection within. Mindfulness helps with pain and stress management. We’ll practice in ways which are experiential, educational, serious and silly.

Gentle yoga keeps your body flexible and limber. No experience necessary; use a chair if you need to.

Nutrition workshops will help you understand some of the research linking diet and cancer. To help prevent recurrence, to help with healing, to support your immune system through treatment, and increase energy and general vitality.

Cooking classes are hands-on fun so you can learn how to eat this way at home.

Forest bathing and walks in nature will help lift your spirit, fill you with fresh air and renew vitality.  Feel the link between yourself and the rest of nature.

Everything this week is optional.
Participate at your own pace. Nap when you need.
Read all afternoon or enjoy a massage.
Create the experience you need most.

Truly take a break.
