Hands-on Adjustments Training for Yoga Teachers, Level 2

October 28 - 30, 2011

 

 

Course Overview

 

During this intimate and in-depth weekend course with YuMee and Charlene, you will build on the skills developed during the Level 1 training. You will explore hands-on adjustments for a broader range of poses, learn how to skillfully deepen your touch, gain valuable insight into the physical and energetic anatomy, and gain confidence in your intuition and unique approach to touch. This training meets or exceeds Yoga Alliance requirements. Registration is open to yoga teachers who have successfully completed the Level 1 course.


You will cultivate your adjustment skills in a practical, hands-on environment where you will watch, photograph and make notes on detailed demonstrations (course materials to be provided) before giving and receiving adjustments with partners of different shapes and sizes. All participants will also receive a 30 minute private feedback session with YuMee or Charlene and be assigned tailored homework.

 

Who Should Attend


This specialized retreat is designed to be rocket fuel for your teaching. It is open to teachers who have already completed the level one training. Body workers, healers and fitness professionals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

 

Timeline and Schedule


Our weekend begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 and ends at 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011. You can expect more than 12 hours of classroom time over the weekend.


Friday: welcome asana practice, dinner, talk
Saturday: breakfast, adjustments workshop, lunch, free time, practicum, dinner, talk
Sunday: breakfast, adjustments workshop, lunch, free time, practicum, goodbyes


Although our days will be very full, you will have some free time on Saturday and Sunday afternoons to go for a walk or curl up in front of the fire with a cup of tea and a book. Private sessions will be held before the practicums.


Instructors


YuMee (Padmani) is an Advance Certified Jivamukti Yoga instructor who is also trained to teach Ashtanga Vinysasa Yoga. She is a graceful and mature teacher who offers challenging but accessible, breath-driven classes with a strong philosophical underpinning and a playful bent. A consummate lover of language, YuMee’s words are precise and poetic and they evoke something of the artistry of yoga. Her inspiration comes from her teachers, her students (who are in fact her teachers), and the creatures great and small she has had the privilege of sharing her life with.

 

Charlene’s teaching combines fluid movement with detailed anatomical instruction. She combines the blood-pumping kinesthetic experience of vinyasa flow with steady breathwork and heartful intention. Her creative sequences stem from her own everevolving practice and the result is an intelligent, sweaty and inspired practice that will leave you feeling more grounded and graceful. Charlene holds an 800-hour certification from the Jivamukti Yoga School and an Advanced Teaching Certificate from Kula Yoga
Project NYC. Her inspiration stems from her studies of meditation, yoga philosophy and Tibetan Buddhism.
