
Amanda Barnstaple
Amanda became a certified Yoga teacher through a 350 hour training program. She enjoys sharing the benefits of yoga with people of all ages and ability levels. Amanda specializes in teaching hatha vinyasa yoga for everyone, including prenatal and postnatal women, children and teens, and mature adults. Amanda also offers restorative Yoga which promotes the individual’s ability for self-healing.
Amanda first practiced Yoga in her adolescence as a way to improve her asthmatic condition. On her journey with Yoga, Amanda has brought yoga into classrooms as an elementary school teacher, trained in Thai Yoga Massage, and offered prenatal Yoga to her clients as a Doula-in-training. Amanda believes that Yoga can help individuals restore balance in their bodies and lives by connecting the mind, body, and breath.

Liz Frost
Liz completed a 200 hour Yoga teacher training program at Georgian College in 2005. Liz came to Yoga via her meditation practice and incorporates mindfulness into her teaching. She has practiced Yoga and meditation for twenty years. Liz has studied many styles of Yoga and teaches an eclectic mix of these various forms. She has travelled extensively and loves to explore new things, new places and new people. Together with her husband, Liz owns Sugar Ridge and feels blessed to call it home.

Anja Gurnig
Anja completed the Nia White Belt teacher intensive under Canadian Blackbelt Teacher Trainer Martha Randall in March 2007.
She believes in regular joyful and playful practice, continuous learning and skill upgrading to deliver the Nia promise to her community. She regularly hosts fun retreats at Sugar Ridge which incorporate creativity with movement. Join Anja on her passionate path to restore and improve health with expressive and joyful movement.

Rebecca Barnstaple
Rebecca received her Graduate Diploma in Somatic Education from Université du Québec à Montréal in December 2009, focusing primarily on Feldenkrais technique. This approach has been used successfully by pro golfers and musicians, people breaking habits or recovering from accidents, the elderly, and even horses. She has been involved with dance most of her life and fell in love with tango about 10 years ago and loves to share it with others in a fun, open style of learning.

Bev Bayley B.A. RYT 250+
Bev is a Certified Yoga Instructor and a member of the Canadian Yoga Alliance. She teaches a variety of yoga classes - Hatha, Vinyasa, Moms & Daughters at various studios in our region. Recently she received training in Toronto to teach "Yoga for Round Bodies", with Tiina Veer, and is excited to share this learning with others.

Sarah Calvert
Sarah did her Kundalini Yoga certification in 2006 in New Mexico through 3HO/Kundalini Research Institute which is recognized by the Yoga Alliance. She has since taken various courses with a strong interest in Buddhism, and practiced several meditation techniques. She has been teaching in Canada and recently taught and studied in India for several months, bringing her new knowledge back to share and help others.
Health and Wellness are near and dear to her heart and is very knowledgeable in healing foods and their preparation

Cheryl Mc Cague-Shane
Cheryl has practiced Yoga for over 15 years and in 2005 became a certified Yoga teacher completing a 500 hour training program with Irene and Dr. Bill Beer of Namaste International in the tradition of Vanda Scaravelli, focusing on a form of Yoga that works with the body to restore health, vitality and energy. Cheryl attends workshops and conferences to continually develop her Yoga teaching skills and knowledge.
Cheryl began a daily meditation practice eleven years ago and she has participated in many meditation retreats, from 3 to 9 days. In November 2009 Cheryl spent a month in India on a Buddhist Pilgrimage, visiting important historical sites of the Buddha and deepening her understanding of the Dharma. Cheryl is currently participating in a 2 year Meditation Mentorship Programme with Norman Feldman, Molly Swan and Michael Stone.

Amber McAauley
Amber has 13 years experience in dance and earned her Yoga teacher certification in 2002 at Kripalu in Lenox Massachusetts. Her passion for meditation lead her to Puna, India for study and growth. Amber continuously expands on her teaching education by attending workshops and retreats.
Amber enjoys working with individuals of all fitness levels and specializes in working with individuals who have physical and mental limitations. She has a playful way of encouraging people to explore their life through communication, movement and meditation.

Tanya Armstrong RDH, Certified Nia/ Yoga Teacher R-YNC
Tanya, is a dynamic, nurturing and poised Nia and Yoga Teacher. She has been involved in health and wellness as a practicing dental hygienist since 1994, and a professor in the dental hygiene program. The diagnosis of herself and one of her three sons with Celiac Disease started her journey in holistic nutrition, yoga, meditation, and Nia in 2000.
Tanya is a licensed Nia/Yoga teacher and is registered with the Yoga Network of Canada. Since 2006 she has been holding space for students in her classes, women’s retreats and workshops, helping them free themselves, listen to their own body’s way, along with reconnecting
them to body sensation and spirit. |
