Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics Weekend Retreat with Jeff Warren

Friday, June 15 – Sunday, June 17, 2018

Enjoy a retreat with Jeff Warren!

This weekend will be a gleeful exploratory romp into the deeply mysterious heart of meditation practice, inspired – in part – by my new book Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics.

Suitable for total beginners to more experienced practitioners. Two days of sitting and discussion, with some movement and nature excursions to keep the energy moving and the body limber. Food will be mostly vegetarian, with eggs. Cabins will be shared. Excitement will be had, as well as peaceful sighing and frequent existential reorientations.

Our main practices will be mindfulness and acceptance, with continuous exploration into the transformative dynamics of how spiritual practices work. We’ll also look at what it means to be your own teacher, able to “McGyver” your meditation to fit your unique circumstances and nervous system, always curious about and alert to new openings and possibilities.

There is simply no greater adventure. My primary intention for this retreat is to activate people’s motivation and wonder. Meditation is training how you want to exist.  It’s that deep, that real, and sometimes that cosmic. Leading these explorations is my absolute favourite thing in the world to do. It is my privilege to connect to people in this way and I love getting to know the folks I meet on retreat. If you like you can read about my teaching style here.

Exact itinerary to come. But, roughly, people arrive between 3 – 6 on Friday June 15th. Dinner at 6pm, welcome and meditation and discussion that evening. Saturday we alternate 40-minute sits with discussion, teaching, meals, movement, and a bit of free time. Saturday night I’ll guide a fun sound, music and unselfconscious dance party – ie, we have a good time, chill with each other, explore what it means to be free. On Sunday we are back meditating, a mix of discussion and practice and how to bring it all into our lives. End Sunday the 17th around 2:30pm.

I let the exact schedule be loose so I can be open both to what’s coming up for folks, and to what inspirations are coming through my own weird nervous system.
