Sounds of Summer: Yoga and Sound Retreat

deeply listen to your body

This weekend getaway is an opportunity to create space for the practice of deep listening.

Two beautiful sound facilitators are coming together to guide this weekend of exploration.  Learn to deeply listen to your body, guided through slow somatic movement experiences with live music by David Hickey. Tune in to the rhythm of natures sounds in the forest, and in your practice, bathing in waves of intentional sounds. Spend the weekend immersed in the exploration of how these practices can profoundly affect your whole system as you listen with not just your ears, but with every cell in your body.

Sound therapy is rooted in the science that everything in existence is vibrating and everything vibrating carries a frequency. To keep our body/heart/mind in good health, we must keep ourselves in tune. With the harmonic vibrations created by crystal singing bowls and other intentionally played resonant instruments, we can shift our brainwaves into slower meditative states and bring our nervous system from our “switched on” sympathetic state, into our “rest and digest” parasympathetic state….and it is in this place where deep healing and restoration occurs.

Through vocal practices, healing instruments, intention and tuning back into nature, we can bring ourselves back into vibrational alignment. When our cells are vibrating at optimum frequencies, and our energetic system is flowing, we thrive, we feel great….and we are healthy and happy!

No experience with yoga or meditation is necessary, and all of the practices are inclusive. You will be supported and encouraged to respect all of your unique needs during this retreat.  Everything offered is completely optional.
This is YOUR time. If you need to sleep, then skip the early morning yoga session. Allow this time to be the kindest gift you can ever give yourself, and honour your true needs.

Crystal Journey and David Hickey

Crystal Journey and David Hickey performs with 8-10 Paiste Planet, Symphonic and Sound Creation Gongs. Every Gong features a strong fundamental note tuned to represent a natural harmonic series based on the orbital properties of the Sun, the Earth, the Moon and the other planets. This Theory is based upon Pythagorean Cosmology.

Two Persian Santoor’s are part of the scene as well. The Santoor is an Indo-Persian trapezoid-shaped hammered dulcimer or string musical instrument made of walnut with seventy-two strings. It is the national musical instrument of Iran. It dates back to ancient time, Mesopotamia (1600-911 BC) and Babylonia. It’s a beautiful-sounding instrument; often sounding like a piano. The Gongs and Santoor are accompanied by 6 – 8 Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls. Each produces a pure note or tone, the purest there is.

Crystal Journey has been touring Canada and the US coast to coast for the past 20 years and has performed over 1500 shows, releasing 9 CDs to date. David has played the Bowls and Gongs accompanied by various musicians as well as with the Winnipeg Chamber Orchestra in June of 2006.
