Thanksgiving Yoga and Meditation Retreat
Friday, October 7 – Monday, October 10, 2022
The theme for the retreat is Cultivating Gratitude!
Reconnect with yourself over this weekend retreat.
Explore gratitude in many forms. Understand the science behind how cultivating gratitude can change your life.
Take time just for you, lose some stress, and feel more centered and able to deal with whatever life presents. Just being in the Sugar Ridge environment is a peaceful experience.
Enjoy the majesty of the fall colours, the smell of the forest, migrating birds, the breeze, feel your heartbeat, your breath. Enjoy whole foods and nourish your soul at the same time.
Throughout the weekend you are invited to explore various forms of mindfulness meditations including sitting, walking and eating as well as mindful movement through yoga, keeping in mind that everything is optional. If meditation or yoga are new to you this is a perfect opportunity to experience them. The whole point is self-awareness through self-observation. Basically we cultivate the ability to pay attention, while knowing that we’re paying attention. We begin by observing the natural breath to concentrate the mind. With a sharpened awareness we proceed to observe the changing nature of body and mind and the environment we’re in. Ideally we cultivate the ability to pay attention moment to moment without needing to sit still to do it, taking mindfulness into daily living. No experience is necessary and this retreat is perfect if you’re curious about meditation but not sure how to start or what to expect.
Round out the weekend with a visit to Sainte Marie among the Huron for their annual Harvest Festival.
Everything over the weekend is completely optional. If you need to sleep in then skip the early morning yoga session. Allow this weekend to be the kindest gift you could ever give yourself and honour your needs.
Feast on the bounty of harvest – Three Sister Soup, Butternut Squash Chile, fresh baked cornbread and more.

Meet Your Teacher
Jenny Jackson has been immersed in Movement Education for more than 20 years. Jenny is a seeker of inner well-being, and she consciously aligns herself living with an open mind, an open heart and embodies joy & vitality which is reflected in her welcoming & inclusive style of instruction. She teaches with a strong anatomical influence while still deeply honouring the classical roots of yoga. Jenny believes that feeling vital and in harmony with others & within our own selves is the primary goal (in life and in our bodies), and practice should reflect this.
Expect well-planned, responsible, creative & intuitive instruction within Jenny’s classes and retreats. Trust that your needs will be supported and a sense of inclusion & community will always be a focus. Jenny takes her offerings (but not herself) very seriously, so you can relax and be yourself as she leads with humour and vulnerability.
