Summer is coming! The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, the bees are buzzing and all the while, you’ve worked hard. You’ve worked hard at your job. You’ve worked hard in your home. You’ve  worked hard on yourself, striving to create a healthy body and a mind more awake and aware. 
This summer, take the time to renew with The Essential Summer Retreat at Sugar Ridge. Here, you will find solace in the silence of the woods, stillness in the daily meditations, harmony in yoga practice and the potential to discover new ways of being through  energy healing. Couple all that with amazing summer cuisine, bonfires and the prospect of making new friends and sacred memories that will last a lifetime. This is truly The Essential Summer Retreat!
 
Friday July 26
3-5pm:  Arrive and settle into your cabin
5-6pm: Welcoming Ceremony
6pm:  Dinner!!
7:30-9pm:  Yoga & guided meditation with Ali and Trish
 
Saturday July 27
7-8am:  Self-Healing Meditation with Trish
8:30am:  Breakfast
10-11:30am:  Yoga Therapy Class with Ali
11:30 -12:30:  Free Time
12:30pm:  Lunch
2-3:30 pm: Facilitated Energy Healing with Trish
3:30-6pm:  Free Time/Hike In The Woods
4-5:00pm **Optional: Private questions for Trish & Ali
6pm:  Dinner!! (Yummy)
7:30-9pm:  Yin Yoga & Meditation with Ali and Trish
9pm:  Bonfire (bring your musical instruments)
 
Sunday July 28
7-8:30am:   Gentle Yoga & Breathing Practice with Ali
9am:   Breakfast
10-11:30am:  Closing Ceremony
Noon:  Lunch!!
2:00 Leave for home refreshed and renewed

 

Meet Your Facilitators


Ali Alexander
Certified Yoga Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher, BA & Graduate Diploma in Education

Ali Alexander is a Yoga Therapist and has been teaching yoga asana, philosophy and meditation since 2005. She teaches publicly and privately in Toronto and offers a variety of approaches to the practice:  Yin, Hatha Flow, Yoga Therapy, Meditation and Philosophy. 

In her teaching there is always emphasis on breathing and practicing awareness of the present moment experience. Whether moving in synch with it or using it as an indicator of our condition, the breath is the primary guide of the practice. Her focus in asana practice is to guide students in exploring their optimal range of motion with a focus on full functional mobility. In addition to awareness of breath, the use of mindfulness practices for the body, mind and environment are a part of each class she teaches.

She is on the faculty of 2 yoga teacher-training programs and offers retreats and workshops in all aspects of the practice of yoga.

 

 


Trish

Meditation and Energy Healer

Trish is an Occupational Therapist (O.T.), a meditation teacher, an energy healer and fellow human being. Her near 20 years of experience in her role as an O.T. in mental health include facilitating life skills groups in a hospital setting and suicide intervention in the community. Upon discovering meditation as an invaluable tool for self-care in both her personal and professional life, Trish has maintained a regular meditation practice ever since. As a result, Trish ascertains that  she was able to build a strong core within herself in the face of stress. However, it was when Trish fell ill to the effects of Lyme Disease that she truly came into awareness about herself, about life and about healing. It was through Trish’s personal journey of healing herself that she discovered a gift for energy healing, which she describes as “a process of allowing the impossible to become possible through the transformation of beliefs, thoughts, emotions and behaviour”. According to Trish, WE are the healers of ourselves and it is her greatest passion to uncover the power to self-heal and the resulting potential to become the love that we already are.
