Thriving in Palliative Care Winter Retreat

Friday, February 23 – Sunday, February 25, 2018

The focus of the retreat will be on wellness and resiliency and working with idea of thriving in our work. Monica Branigan and friends will be offering a little mindfulness, some yoga, narrative, expressive art and the opportunity to play in the snow. The retreat is open to all members of the Division of Palliative Care, University of Toronto.

Objectives:

  1. Reflect on your personal state of wellness and your resiliency strategies
  2. Discuss the unique challenges and satisfaction of working in palliative care
  3. Reflect, play, laugh, talk and move with your colleagues
  4. Consider the role of community in taking care of yourself

Tentative Schedule:

Please note that all sessions are optional and you are invited to truly take care of yourself

Faculty

Monica Branigan is a palliative care counsellor working in the community with the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative care. She is a longtime yogi who aspires to vibrant health.

Melissa Melnitzer is a GP psychotherapist and Certified Daring Way Facilitator (CDWF™) working both in private practice and with the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. She is passionate about the role of sharing stories in healing.

Hardeep Prewal is a palliative care physician with Temmy Latner Cente for Palliative Care. She is believer in the power and beauty of a balanced life and strives to live this every day.

Janet Murchison is an occupational therapist working at Baycrest Centre in elder mental health. She uses art, creativity and mindfulness in her work and in her life.

Rehana Dosani is a palliative care physician doing full-service palliative care at Trillium Health Partners. As a new mother she is very attuned to the changes of finding balance.
