Yin & Yang: It's All About Balance

This retreat has a focus on mindfulness and movement practices to create and support a space of wellness from the inside out. Enjoy this time just for you as you experience opportunities for both movement and stillness creating a blended balance of Yang & Yin energies in body, mind and spirit. 

Just being immersed in the Sugar Ridge environment is a naturally peaceful experience. This retreat is your time to relax, unwind and reconnect as you become mindful of all that surrounds you, and all that is within you. Listen to the birds and the breeze. Feel your heartbeat, the rise and fall of your breath. Just as important as stillness is mindful movement. This getaway will include opportunities to intentionally move energy through active yoga classes and mindful exercise or hiking. You can even have someone else support balancing your energy by booking a Reiki treatment!

This retreat is a reminder that finding balance is rooted in rituals and practices that support us in meeting ourselves where we are at, and creating shifts to promote change from there…no expectations, no judgments.

  • Cleanse and nourish your body with yummy organic vegan meals, while you nourish your soul.
  • Come into physical balance with movement classes that will flex your muscles, as well as your mind and spirit.
  • Create your resilient emotional balance with mindfulness-based meditation.

Throughout this retreat, you are invited to explore various forms of mindfulness meditations including sitting, walking and eating, as well as mindful movement through yoga and gentle exercise. No experience with yoga or meditation is necessary! This retreat is perfect if you’re curious about it but not sure where to start. Everything during your retreat is completely optional. This is YOUR time. If you need to sleep in, then skip the early morning yoga session. Allow this time to be the kindest gift you can ever give yourself, and honour your true needs.

5pm         Gentle Somatic Yoga to Re-balance the Nervous System
6pm         Dinner
7pm         Group Circle & Meditation

Tuesday

7:30am  Sensory Meditation
8:00       Yang Yoga flow…or sleep
9:00.      Breakfast
11:00     Mindful Strength Class (a simple bodyweight movement class intended to offer an intentional & accessible experience of connecting to inner & outer strength)
12:30     Lunch
1:30       Chakra Meditation
2:30       Free time: read, nap, explore the forest
4:30       Yoga: Restorative & Yin Yoga Fusion
6:00       Dinner
7:00       Yoga Nidra Meditation for Relaxation

Sunday

7:30am   Yin/Yang Yoga class
9am        Breakfast & free time to pack up your cabin
11:00      Metta (Loving Kindness) Meditation
12:30      Lunch

Meet Your Teacher

Jenny Jackson has been immersed in Movement Education for more than 20 years. Jenny is a seeker of inner well-being, and she consciously aligns herself living with an open mind, an open heart and embodies joy & vitality which is reflected in her welcoming & inclusive style of instruction. She teaches with a strong anatomical influence while still deeply honouring the classical roots of yoga. Jenny believes that feeling vital and in harmony with others & within our own selves is the primary goal (in life and in our bodies), and practice should reflect this.

Expect well-planned, responsible, creative & intuitive instruction within Jenny’s classes and retreats. Trust that your needs will be supported and a sense of inclusion & community will always be a focus. Jenny takes her offerings (but not herself) very seriously, so you can relax and be yourself as she leads with humour and vulnerability.

Jenny is a certified and experienced schoolteacher, yoga teacher, personal trainer, group fitness coach, and Health & Wellness coach. Jenny finds her own sense of centering while mountain biking in the forest and enjoying her stand-up paddleboard. She is the founder of Body Balanced Wellness, which offers registered Yoga Teacher Training Programs, both online & in person.
