Yoga on the Beach: 7 Night Escape on Georgian Bay

Celebrate summer on the shores of Georgian Bay!
Your cottage getaway is on a private sandy beach close to Midland and Penetanguishene.
You will have the opportunity to explore the water in many ways:
Crew a sailboat, have a lesson in stand up paddle boarding, canoe the Wye Marsh, cruise the islands on the Miss Midland, and swim from the dock in front of your cottage.
Morning yoga, fresh organic meals, creative activities and evening bonfires round out the day.
Venture out to Drayton theater at King’s Wharf, and historical sites of Simcoe County. Home to the first European settlement in Ontario (Sainte Marie Among the Hurons) and a naval base built for the war of 1812 (Discovery Harbour)
Location: In the heart of Georgian Bay, with a view to Beausoleil Island, Present Island and around the bend from Midland Harbour, We will be using a group of 3 cottages on the same privately owned family property. All group activities that need to be indoors will take place in the large house, with accommodation provided in a beach house, cottage and the larger house. We’ll maximize our time outside on the beach, the large lawn or on the deck, but have plenty of space for classes and dining inside in case of inclement weather.
The cottages are just 6 minutes from Discovery Harbour and King’s Wharf Theater. 10 minutes from Midland and the Miss Midland Boat Tour, and 15 minutes from Sainte Marie and the Wye Marsh.
Food: you will be well fed this week with all the great tastes of Sugar Ridge. Your cottage will be stocked with everything you need to make your breakfast when you want it, giving you the option of sleeping in or eating early. Lunch and dinner are catered by Sugar Ridge and will be prepared with organic whole foods, plant based and yummy. Eat as much as you want. Iced tea, hot tea, coffee, fresh fruit and wholesome snacks are always available. You have access to a fully equipped kitchen in your cottage so you can bring any snacks or beverages you want and store them there.
Retreat Schedule
Saturday August 20
3- 5 pm arrive and settle in to your cottage, chill on the beach
5-6 pm Meet & greet your new friends for the week
6 pm – Dinner on the lawn
Sunday – Friday morning routine
7am Sunrise yoga on the beach
8am Meditation on the beach
8:30 Breakfast in your cottage
9 – 12 – SUP lesson on the beach, swim, sunbathe, free time
12pm – Lunch together at the house
Afternoon and evening activities will vary each day and will include the following:
At the cottage we’ll enjoy bonfires on the beach with an evening corn roast, mandala colouring, and optional activities. Lots of free time to nap, laze around or swim.
Included with your registration are the fees for offsite admission we’ll venture to: local historical sites and wildlife areas including
Sainte Marie Among the Hurons – for an afternoon of First Nations games and story telling in the long house
Miss Midland Boat Tour – 2.5 hour tour through part of the 30,000 Islands leaving from Midland Town Dock
King’s Wharf Theater – Enjoy the hit comedy “It Runs in the Family”
Canoe the Wye Marsh – guided tour
Explore the Midland farmers market on your way home Saturday.
Liz Frost M.A. Ed, is a mindfulness coach, certified yoga teacher and Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in the Midland area. She has studied with Jon Kabat Zinn and Saki Santorelli of the Centre for Mindfulness, Lee Lesser, Norman Feldman and most recently with Shinzen Young. Liz began her yoga journey as a form of meditation, having found meditation before yoga, and she incorporates mindfulness into yoga practice. She is co-owner of Sugar Ridge and devotes her time and energy to making the world a more peaceful place. She resides on the property with her 3 dogs and 2 cats
Registration Details
Rates depend on the accommodation you choose. Every option includes 7 nights accommodation,meals from Saturday dinner until Departure breakfast, yoga classes, entrance fees, theatre tickets, SUP lessons, sailing and canoeing.
There are 3 cottages to choose from:
Beachfront luxury suite with kitchen, living room, 3 pc washroom, balcony on the beach,
Queen bed $1600 private or $1300 each if shared by a couple. This must be booked as a couple if you want to share with your partner.
Cottage with large kitchen, living room, 3 pc washroom, deck
Private room – 2 spaces available each with double bed. $1250 or $950 each if shared with your partner.
Semi – private attic with 2 double futons $1,150 shared with one other participant.
House with large living room, dining room, kitchen, sun room, 2 full 4 pc washrooms, laundry, wet bar and deck.
Private room – 2 spaces available with queen beds $1,350 private or $1050 each if shared with your partner.
Private room – 1 space available with double bed $1,250 or $950 each if shared with your partner
House semi-private – 2 spaces available with twin beds $1,150 shared with one other participant.
